Greenville River Hawks Press Release

(Greenville, SC) Sweetlax Lacrosse Company and Lowlax are pleased to announce the addition of Sky Dupree to the River Hawks and the Lowlax lacrosse store. Sky is set to enter his first year as the Club Director for the Greenville River Hawks as the team enters its inaugural summer season while also overseeing and managing Greenville’s local lacrosse shop, Low Lax, and is the owner/operator of the Greenville Youth Lacrosse League.

The GYLL is the first of its kind in the Greenville area, with a focus on growing the game of lacrosse in the Upstate by providing the opportunity to play lacrosse for all ages. Before moving to Greenville, Dupree worked with Lenoir-Rhyne University (Hickory, NC), where he oversaw the athletic facilities and operations. During his time at Lenoir-Rhyne, he re-wrote many of the gameday policies and operational manuals while hosting six different Conferences and NCAA championships.

As a college player, Dupree was a part of the first recruiting class at North Greenville University, where he helped launch the program. A three-time All-Conference player, he holds the record for Caused Turnovers and Caused Turnovers per game at North Greenville while also holding the record for Groundballs among defensive players. Dupree played for Whitefield Academy (Mableton, GA) in high school, where he won three consecutive 1A State Championships and collected 3 All-State distinctions.

Currently, Sky resides on the north side of Greenville with his wife Elizabeth, an Assistant Strength Coach at Furman University, and their dog Jake. At Furman, Elizabeth oversees the speed and strength training for the softball, women’s tennis, and women’s golf teams while also leading the S&C Internship Program.

“I am extremely excited to help build the Greenville River Hawks program and the incredible players that we have coming out of the Upstate. The River Hawks program is incredibly special and positioned to be an elite travel team coming out of the South. I am thankful for the opportunity to lead this program into its inaugural season and help elevate the skill level of lacrosse in the Greenville/Spartanburg area,” stated Dupree, who is also an area High School Coach.

Tom Harris, co-owner of the Lowlax chain of lacrosse stores and Founder of the Loggerheads a Sweetlax Regional Program serving the Charleston, SC area; “ Having Sky join our team at the store and the River Hawks as well as his involvement launching the GYLL is a great fit for the area”. Harris has pioneered lacrosse in both Charleston and Savannah. “ Sky’s singular focus on lacrosse will ensure the growth and coverage the Upstate area deserves”.

Lowlax of Greenville (formally Top Left Lacrosse) opened its doors in 2011 as the first and only lacrosse specialty store in the greater Greenville area; one of four locations including Savannah and Charlotte as well started and overseen with partners Jeff Mayer and Christian Harris. They service everyone from outfitting new players with their first sticks and gear as well as providing the experienced player with the latest and greatest from top brands such as Maverick, Cascade, STX, Warrior, String King, and East Coast Dyes. Their Custom Team Sales Department helps many teams look their best on and off the field.

Kevin Martin, Founder of Sweetlax is equally excited, “ Working with the team at Lowlax has been successful and in particular beneficial for local players who are looking for additional outlets to pursue lacrosse”, commented Martin, “launching the River Hawks will provide players and families more lacrosse while including the many value adds Sweetlax has to offer from College Combines to Showcases”.
